Letting RNH go and replacing him with a FA center or on thru trade would be in order.
Who to target? Reinhart, Getzlaf, Krejci, Danualt, Eichel is too costly, WHO ELSE? |

Nothing a number one draft pick (always a forward) couldn't solve.

i think the Oilers will be greatly improved next year.
my non Oiler fan ( so mayb e im out to lunch? ) thoughts?
how close are Bouchard and Broberg to being regulars on your blue line? are they looking good?
getting Klefbom back will help.
I'd sign one of Grabauer or Anderson in net.
I like that Hollaway kid, think he will be an instant sparkplug for your forward group
I try and sign both Danault and Armia from the Habs to help Forward depth.
and if you can afford it, swing for Landeskog or Dougie Hamilton to.
clearly this is way easier said then done |

Trade McDavid to the Rangers for 4 or 5 solid young players! Gorigiev, Kakko, Hijack, TDA, Blackwell and get rid of the over priced players. |

Whatever happens don’t waste McDavid’s youth, Or he will look to get out. How do you find the right building recipe whiteout wasting a season? |
|

The $28m or so in cap is nice to have, but that is with having 8 forwards singed and Nurse, Bear Klefbom and Russell as the top D. And Koskinen as the only starter. I think it's actually $22m if you check CapFriendly. Subtract RNH and Larsson's new deals from the 22. There are 4 RFA's they own the rights to, two of them have arbitration rights.
Grubauer is not going to be available. Maybe Craig Anderson will. The bottom line is that the needs run deep and replacing players like Nuge and Larsson will either be expensive or you pay them. The bottom 6 was not good enough. Barrie will cost a lot to re-sign, and will likely go elsewhere.
Having two top C's is something to look forward to building around. Should be building from the net out. Make the hard decisions and rebuild the team keeping only a handful of players. |

Hindsight is 20/20, but it may have been a different series if McDavid and Leon were split up (on different lines). That is on Tippett. |

McDavid absolutely needs to step up defensively. It's the difference between Crosby's best years when he was 1-1.25 PPG and McDavids best years over 1.5 PPG
Points don't help fish the puck out of your own net
Crosby was more effective because he was a horse possession wise and defensively. McDavid gets all his effectiveness when he's on the rush or paired with Draisatyl. Crosby used to do with with Kunitz and Dupuis or Guentzel and Sheary |

Need $25M to re-sign RFA's and RNH and Barrie. Something has to give. Does RNH want to stay? If not, just trade his rights to CBJ or NYR, maybe include Neal ($2M retained) for a player like Domi or Strome, (Strome would require a little more from the Oil, but you get what I mean.

What this article fails to realize is that Toffoli, Donskoi, C. Smith, etc. these guys aren’t signing in EDM at the same price. EDM will have to pay a premium and then they become tomorrow’s bad deals. And while McD should be a draw, and he is, he does have some legit body language and temperament things on the bench and with the press (specifically when team mates have stepped up when he’s been nailed then he throws his own guys under the bus saying “he thought it was clean,” etc etc. sorta ignoring the fact that if Kassian or someone else stands by and lets him get nailed THEY’RE gonna be riding pine for it. It’s a subtle dig between the ears too that almost places McD and his opponents on a more even class or skill plane than he and his team mates. Couple that with him almost making a guy like Pulj appear to want to cry after, admittedly, sure, a gaffe, but that’s a dude whose been giving 110% the whole way. I’d say there is still room for growth in McJesus. Which is kind of a duh statement. Look at how high the mountain usually is. Ask Sakic, Yzerman, or a warrior like Brind’Ampur. They’re all around and would take his call.
That said, fixes:

Sets up your next two drafts to have picks in rounds 3-7and with the 2022 1st likely to find it’s way into play at the 2022 TDL, but if not, it’ll be there.
The Rangers get their Jack Johnson Replacement in Russell +freedom from the TDA saga and EDM for the drama adds Blackwell to a “new feel“ bottom 6.
Stastny is always worth every penny. He loves young big wingers and has always made them value added assets: (David Jones, Chris Stewart, even Andrew Brunette!).
Foligno can play up or down of Holloway, either adding net front to the Stazz line or Defensive Acuity to the McLeod unit.
Atkinson Can Play Anywhere lines 1-3 and will be a plus on the PP while adding speed to any line.
TDA is this years Barrie perhaps with greater upside considering his RFA status st the end of the year paving the way for Bouchard to take over for him at the RD1 Slot and then TDA being flipped for picks or young assets a year from now.

This is legitimately the stupidest thing I've ever read on this site. Kassian is not a top six winger, he is barely an NHL forward. Stastny is 35 and over the hill and you want to give him 2 years. Hard no on DeAngelo. There is just too much stupid here to continue even addressing.

Assuming Barrie leaves and gets a big money/term contract, will other UFAs be willing to make a 1 year signing to get their tires pumped by Mcd? If you look at it Chaisson and Kassian likely got an extra 1-1.5 mil for some very limited time playing with him. Not sure how many resurrections projects there are like Barrie, but with a flat cap i would think some will be interested. |
